SAFE Community Homes are part of the wider DestinationBootle project, led by Safe Regeneration, which aims to regenerate the area alongside the beautiful Leeds-Liverpool canal into a mixed use development comprising:
- High quality affordable housing for local families
- Extra-care accommodation for Over 55s
- Environmentally-friendly energy supply incl ground source heating and solar PV scheme
- Refurbishment of the much-loved Lock & Quay, the city region’s only community pub
- A new 2,500 sq m Creative Enterprise Centre in Carolina Basin Quay including affordable leases and business development support for creative and social enterprises
- Social spaces and activities for children and young people
- Canalside Leisure Facilities including canoe hub, boat moorings & water-based heritage tours
- An engaging ongoing cultural programme of creative, community and wellbeing activities
The development has received over £750,000 worth of funding support from Power to Change, Homes England Community-led Housing Fund, and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Special Investment Fund, and is supported by Sefton Borough Council.
The DestinationBootle project (#DB) is the UK’s largest community-led housing initiative and is a result of 10 years of development work by Safe Regeneration and community partners.
